On Sunday, September 23, 2007, Mid City Grill, located on Spy Run in Fort Wayne, held its first annual First Day of Autumn Cookout & Mid City NEINBC Benefit. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Northeast Indiana Burn Council, providing funds to send kids to Burn Camp and to help fund Fireworks Safety programming.
The event was a success! While hoping to raise $1,000 to fund one child at Burn Camp, the event raised $1,941 for Burn Camp (2 campers!) and an additional $616 for Fireworks Safety programming. Selling cookout food (hotdogs, hamburgers, potato salad, bbq beans & chips), 17 bands donated their time and performed from 1pm to midnight. Silent Auction items and raffles also added to event's fun atmosphere. A steady stream of customers jammed to the music, bid on items and helped support the Burn Council.
Many thanks to Mid City Grill owner Sammy, to managers Kim & Don, and to band-organizer Andy Pauquette for all of their hard work in creating this wonderful benefit event, and many thanks to all of the bands and auction/raffle donors.
Plan for next year's event in 2008!
