The Phoenix Society's World Burn Congress is an annual international conference that brings together more than 650 burn survivors, their families, care givers, burn care professionals and firefighters. It is a forum in which we encourage and facilitate the sharing of stories, provide support and increase knowledge of burn recovery. For many it is the first opportunity to meet and share with others who have experienced a burn trauma. The conference also serves as a wonderful learning experience for burn care professionals to better understand the issues that impact burn survivors' lives. Many firefighters that have attended talk about the closure it brings for them as they witness burn survivors and their families living meaningful lives. For individuals who are active in the burn support community at a local level, World Burn Congress serves as a wonderful networking opportunity. The three days of the World Burn Congress are filled with inspirational stories of survival, courage and personal growth. Many have described their experience at WBC as both a powerful and life changing experience.
The Northeast Indiana Burn Council encourages local Burn Survivors and their families to consider attending this annual event by offering limited scholarships to attend. Please select the link below to learn more about WBC 2008 and scholarship opportunities.
